Year 5 eagerly learnt about the Battle of Trafalgar and made battle ships and weapons at school in order to take part in a battle re-enactment at Chiltern Hills Academy at the end of June. A historical re-enactment group added authenticity to the event and it was exciting to witness the battle between the English and their French and Spanish opponents and the blood-curdling punishment meted out by the ship's blood-stained surgeon. The children re-enacted their own battle under the guidance of the admirals. Thanks to Dr Bygate at Chesham Grammar and Mr McCollum at Chiltern Hills for all of their super preparation - we had a fantastic time!
