The teachers are welcoming in 2020 with an extraordinary new project for Enterprise Week! This is an exciting, annual event for our school, and we always work hard to ensure that the projects chosen are relevant, exciting and linked to real industry professionals. In this way, we intend to raise the aspirations of our pupils, and to show them what exciting career opportunities there are out there in the real world!
But first - the training. We have learned all about the software 'Tinkercad' and how to use it to create small products, along the lines of key rings and pencil toppers. These can then be printed and sold at our Enterprise Event in February.
Mrs Hussain (our STEM leader) has asked class teachers to really give the children a taste of the design process. Therefore children will be put into company teams from this week, and in each STEM lesson this half term, the pupils will be working on their designs for the Project.
During the training, we were shown how to use the 3D printer - with some of our teacher designs being chosen for printing!
We are so excited to be able to offer such an incredible opportunity to our pupils; we were especially proud when the Trainer informed us that we are one of only 20 UK schools currently offering this 3D printing scheme of work to their pupils in KS2.
Later this half term, parents will be invited in to see what our companies produce (and perhaps even buy some!)
